Immigration Evaluations
What are Immigration Evaluations?
An immigration evaluation is a written report prepared by a licensed mental health professional to support an immigration case. It explains how a person’s mental and emotional health may be affected by separation from family, past trauma, or the stress of their current situation. These evaluations are often requested by immigration attorneys to strengthen cases such as:
Hardship waivers (I-601, I-601A)
VAWA (Violence Against Women Act)
U Visa
T Visa
Asylum
The goal of the evaluation is to provide a clear, compassionate, and professional understanding of your story and the emotional impact of your circumstances. The final report is submitted by your attorney as part of your immigration application.
What to Expect
Immigration evaluations are more structured than regular therapy sessions. We meet to gather information about your history, experiences, and current emotional state. Sessions may include discussions about your background, your relationships, and how your situation has affected your daily life.
Most evaluations include:
A thorough review of your documents (such as letters, court records, or medical history)
1 to 2 meetings (each lasting about 60-90 minutes)
Communication with your attorney (if needed)
A detailed written report that your attorney can submit
All meetings are held securely through telehealth for clients located in Texas or Washington.
Turnaround Time
After the final interview, the completed report is typically delivered to your attorney within 2 to 3 weeks.
If you need your report sooner, a rush option is available:
